BANGKOK, Thailand -- Bantamweight Yuttapong Tongdee (9-0, 5 KO's), the Thai fighter who has battled a number of Pinoy boxers, is all set to defend his WBA Asia Bantamweight Strap from the attacks of younger India warrior challenger F. Zoramchhana (4-2, 0 KO's).
Today, both Yuttapong and Zoramchana scaled-in perfectly at the limit of the weight class, both combatants making exacty 53.52 kilos (118 pounds).
In doing so, both men looked strong, super fit and ready for their televised title crucial action battle.
The war will be Yuttapong's 2nd title defense of the belt he claimed last August.
When Yuttapong and Zoramchana trade bombs, what will unfold? Will the 23-year-old Zoramchana put an end to Yuttapong’s WBA Asia reign or terror, shattering his plans?
Notably, Yuttapong is known to Filipino boxing fans for decisioning veteran Pinoy warrior Ryan Rey "Pogi" Ponteras (23-18-3, 12 KO's), and then defeating promising Bacoleño Herlan Gómez (6-1, 3 KO's).
The above, prompt some boxing fans in social media to wonder this:
“If Yuttapong bested two good Filipino bantamweights as Ponteras and Gomez the way he did, then, could he comfortably outclass Zoramchhana too?” Answer to that remains to be seen.
The Thai's goal in mind is to keep on defending strap for as long as necessary as a method to advance his career, while wishing to break into the world rankings in the hot Bantamweights where things could really take off.
Incidentally, bantamweights is the awesome weight-class which for years has been dominated by the Japanese "Monster" Naoya Inoue. With Inoue out of the division, world sanctioning bodies scramble to get a champ, although its hard to imagine another warrior as bantamweight as Naoya Inoue anytime soon.
In another thrilling rumble, world-ranked WBA Asia champion Phoobadin Yoohanngoh (15-0, 9 KO's) of Thailand weighed-in at 63.50 kilos (140 lbs), while his India challenger Vanlalawmpuia (6-1-1, 4 KO's). came-in at 63.23 Kgs (139.4 pounds), for their battle for the WBA Asia Super Lightweight Strap.
