Gensan native Mike Plania absorbed the second loss of his career when he bows out to undefeated American Ra'see Aleem in their 10-round super bantam bout for the WBO NABO title on the undercard of the Andy Ruiz vs Luis Ortiz heavyweight fight at the Crypto.com (formerly Staples Center) in Los Angeles Sunday night (Monday in Manila).

Aleem (20-0-0, 12KOs) scored a knockdown in the second round en route to fully dominating Plania the whole night. All three judges, Patrick Russell, Esther Lopez and Rudy Barragan had identical scores of 100-89 in favor of Russell.

"The fight was everything that I expected. He's a very tough fighter and a great competitor," Allem said after the fight. "I just wanted to fight a smart fight, because we know he's dangerous. Although I didn't feel his power, I know that he can hit. I just wanted to take my time and let everything fall into place."

Plania, whose win against the fancied Joshua Greer Jnr in 2020 put him as one of the top contenders in the division, dropped his record to 26-2-0 with 13 wins inside the distance.
