BANGKOK, Thailand — Filipino John Michael Zulueta, 26, couldn’t have made it any better, striking and ravaging his Thai opponent Somphon, dropping him down three times in less than 2 minutes of battle to claim a thrilling round one knockout win Wednesday evening at the plush SpacePlus Night Club in Bangkok, Thailand.

From the getgo the accurate Zulueta pressed the action forward, timing himself well, landing hard on his opponent, disassembling his game plan while imposing his command on the strong Thai warrior who was being shocked and overpowered.

A rain of “Twins” gloves leather Zulueta poured on Somphon, damaging him with straight rights, plus lethal left and right hooks thrown with power and precision. The Thai had no counter-measures to deal with the big problem.

It was an outstanding round one knockout Win for Zulueta, one that made all Filipinos in attendance proud.

Given his exciting win, it is possible that Zulueta and his managing team might want a third fight in Thailand before the year ends. Time will tell if that will transpire.

Zulueta was assisted in his corner by veteran head trainer Joemarie Gamboa and assistant trainer Alex Marvin Alegria.

Zulueta’s Win was a promotion of Brico Santig of Highland Boxing in association with Tony Chen, owner of SpacePlus Night Club and Supanat Chanram.
