Former two-time world champion Anthony Dirrell abruptly ended the night of Marcos Hernandez with a wicked right uppercut at 22 seconds of the 4th round to win by knockout in their 10-round scheduled super middleweight fight on the main undercard of the Canelo-Plant fight at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas Saturday night (Sunday in Manila).

Dirrell first won the WBC supermiddle title in 2013 against Sakio Bika but lost it to Badou Jack in his first defense. He later recaptured it in 2019 against Avni Yildirim but lost it against in his first defense against David Benavidez. He's now looking to challenge for the title again currently being held by Mexican superstar Canelo Alvarez.

Dirrell's uppercut that ended Hernandez's night.

Tonight's fight against Hernandez (15-5-2, 3KOs) was just about to heat up but suddenly ended with that missile uppercut. Hernandez beat Referee Celestino Ruiz's count but lost his legs and staggered forcing Ruiz to stop the fight.

Dirrell has now improved his record to 34-2-2, 25KOs.
