Terence Crawford announced that he will be defending his WBO world welterweight title against Shawn Porter. Crawford explained over ESPN why this fight took a long time to sign and seal.
* * *
“Well, I don’t know what took so long to get the fight done, but originally we was looking forward to securing the Manny Pacquiao and we couldn’t get that fight secured so we had to go on to the next best thing, and that was Shawn Porter. So we’re here now,” Crawford told ESPN.

Errol Spence Jr. marveled at Pacquiao’s stature as one of the all-time greats in boxing history and the tons of money he would have earned had their fight was not cancelled due to his eye injury.
* * *
“It’s freaking Manny Pacquiao,” said Spence Jr. in an interview over ESPN. “Future Hall of Famer, future legend, undoubtedly top 10 all time. One of the greatest fighters of all time. And I drop out of a fight with him two weeks before the fight? That don’t make sense. Not to mention all the money we would make off pay-per-view.”

Spence is coping with the fact that he may never be able to fight Pacquiao before he retires from prizefighting. Pacquiao was shocked by Ugas and the Spence-Pacquiao tussle may never happen.
* * *
Contemplating on his frustrations and his fearless calling out of Pacquiao for the past years, Spence is still giving his thumbs down at critics who believe that he didn’t want to fight on the schedule of the match. "I called him out two years ago in the ring. Not like he handpicked me. I been asking to fight him," clarified Spence.
