Gary Antuanne Russell of Capitol Heights, Maryland remains undefeated after he won by TKO over Jovanie Santiago of Puerto Rico on the Ouabaali-Donaire WBC bantamweight title fight undercard at the Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, CA Saturday night (Sunday in Manila).
Russell (14-0-0, 14KOs) dropped Santiago in the 4th round with a well-timed right cross to the jaw. Although Santiago survived the round, he was made into target practice by Russell afterwards, moreso in the 6th round where the Puerto Rican received heavy punishment from Russell. At the break, Santiago's corner did not allow their ward to come out for the 7th round.
Russell thus remained perfect in his knockout ratio by stopping his 14th opponent in as many fights. Santiago who last fought Andrien Broner last February in a close fight, dropped to 14-2-2, 10KOs.
