Despite playing with slight fever after having the Covid vaccine injection, two-time Asian junior champion Grandmaster Rogelio "Banjo" Barcenilla Jr. lead Laguna Heroes to team victory in the All Filipino Conference Professional Chess Association of the Philippines (PCAP) after defeating Quezon City Simba's Tribe in the night’s main event 19-2, in the battle of the Northern Divisions on Wednesday (February 3, 2021) in the ongoing online tournament at the lichess platform.

The Arizona, USA based Barcenilla defeated Singapore based Fide Master Arlan Cabe after 37 moves of Ponziani Opening in the blitz portion and 62 pushes of Petroff Defense in the rapid play in the top board to secure the Heroes ninth victory against two loses.

"I've been so pleased with the spirit and attitude. GM (Rogelio Barcenilla) Banjo played with slight fever after having Covid vaccine injection," said Team Owner-Playing Coach Arena Grandmaster Dr. Alfredo "Fred" Paez.

Fide Master Austin Jacob Literatus, Woman National Master Karen Enriquez, Fide Master Jose Efren Bagamasbad, Grandmaster John Paul Gomez, Vince Angelo Medina and Kimuel Aaron Lorenzo survived a challenge from Simba's Tribe in the rapid format.
