Caleb Plant dominated his namesake Caleb Truax throughout 12 rounds to win by wide unanimous decision and retain his IBF super middleweight belt at the Shrine Exposition Center in downtown Los Angeles Saturday night (Sunday in Manila). All three judges, Max DeLuca, Lou Moret and Zachary Young each gave all the rounds to Plant for a 120-108 score thrice.

Plant's hands were too fast for Truax defenses as the Nashville native repeatedly connected with jabs and combinations to Truax's head and body. Plant landed a total of 179 punches to only 47 for Truax.

Truax, 37, a Minnesota native who briefly held the same IBF belt himself, was bloodied in the nose and had small cuts at both sides of his eyes courtesy of Plant's constant peppering. Truax however remained standing until the final bell and appeared not in danger of going down even after receiving several hard shots.

Plant connects with a right at Truax during their IBF super middleweight title fight in Los Angeles Saturday night.

Plant said after the fight that he wanted a stoppage win but said "hurt my hand in the 3rd and or 4th round I was a little bit hesitant".

Plant is looking to land a mega unification fight against Mexican superstar Saul Canelo Alvarez who holds the WBC and WBA titles.

Plant, 28, stayed undefeated who upped his record to 21 wins with 12 KOS while Truax dropped to 31-5-2, 19KOs.
