Karl Victor Ochoa wins online bullet chessfest

United States chess champion Karl Victor Ochoa of Malolos, Bulacan ruled the All Filipino Arena in a tournament held online on Sunday.

For beating his rivals, Ochoa, 29, member of Iloilo Kisela Knights, tallied 71 Arena points, 3 points ahead of second placer Don Tyrone Delos Santos of Pasay City in the event organized by Bayanihan Chess Club, supported by Skin Magical Dist4, CARSIGMA Cavite and PER Solutions, Inc company, being held coincide the birthday celebration of International Master Petronio Roca and Mam Elvira Roca.

Ochoa pocketed P3,000 for his efforts while Delos Santos went home P2,000 richer in this one minute plus one second increment time control format being held at the lichess platform which attracted 433 woodpushers.

Narquingel Reyes of Rodriguez, Rizal finished third with 65 points follow by fourth placer Fide Master Alekhine Nouri of Escalante City, Negros Occidental with 61 points and fifth placer Dale Bernardo of Angeles City, Pampanga with 60 points. The trio received P1,000, P500 and P300, respectively.

Rounding up to the top 10 were Sherwin Tiu (sixth), Fide Master Roel Abelgas (seventh), International Master Jan Emmanuel Garcia (eight), Bryle Arellano (ninth) and Klye Ochoa (tenth).-Marlon Bernardino-
