Zulfikar Sali, Team Owner of Zamboanga Sultan, defeated Attorney Jason Maxino Bandal, Co-Team Owner of Negros Kingsmen, 12-10, to win the Mobile Chess Club Philippines Match Up Series Bullet Edition Thursday night, January 7, 2021 at lichess.org.

“I feel great. This tournament is definitely more difficult to win than others that I’ve played in. It’s really hard," said Sali, who hails from Zamboanga City, working as a nurse in Canada.

"You have to play consistently to win," added Sali, a certified Canadian Chess Master who is best to remember winning the prestigious Jack Taylor Memorial Chess Tournament that bring him into the top ten players in British Columbia.

Atty. Bandal of Public Attorney's Office rallied in the end game winning 4 games to tie the match at 10 all count in this race to 12 win, draw not counted, 2'+1" time control format.
However, Sali, who is also the 2001-2002 Norwich, Norfolk, United Kingdom Champion, never looked back winning 2 games to frustrate Bandal's recovery.

Last Wednesday night, January 6, 2021, 13-time Philippine Open Champion Grandmaster Rogelio "Joey" Antonio Jr. edged International Coach-Fide Master Dino Ballecer, 10-4, in the event hosted by New York based Butch Ramos Meliton.-Marlon Bernardino-
