HILARIO CAPTURES THE ONLINE CHESS CROWN ON NEW YEAR'S EVE

Allan Gabriel Hilario, a 13-year-old varsity of Arellano University under the tutelage of NM/AGM Rudy Ibanez, captures the last/21st Edition of Espana Chess Club Bullet Online Tournament for the year 2020 which was held at lichess. com last December 31, 2020, at lichess.org.

With a time control of 1 minute & zero increments. Hilario got the highest score of 51 points and also got the highest Berserk rate of 95%, meaning, giving a plus to his opponent by deducting 30 seconds on his time according to Espana Chess Club Manila top honcho engineer Ernie Fetisan Faeldonia.

The young Hilario was also a representative of the Philippines in the 19th ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nation) Age Group Chess Championship. He was also the teammate of Jasper Faeldonia who bagged the Championship crown in Manila Meet for 2 consecutive years 2018 & 2019.

National Master Julius Sinangote came second with 49 points followed by third placer Rhenz Rheann Auza with 43 points, fourth placer with Adrian Esteva 41 points and fifth placer Rowell Roque with 40 points.

Rounding up to the top 10 winners are National Master engr. Robert Arellano (6th), Nephtali Bantang (7th), Daniel Baylosis (8th), Michael Metrio (9th) and James Saldavia (10th).

Category winners are Ericka Ordizo (Top 2000 ), Herson Magpayo (Top 1800 ), Kaiser Pangilinan (Top kiddie ) and Gllasea Ann Hilario (Top lady ).-Marlon Bernardino-
