Thai warriors Chaloemporn Sawatsuk (21-6, 14 KO's) and former world title challenger Tewa Kiram (43-1, 31 KO's) are set to collide for the vacant WBA ASIA Light Heavyweight Title this Saturday, December 19, at the Suamlum Night Bazaar in Ratchadaphisek, Bangkok, Kingdom of Thailand.
Both men arrived into their rumble with a focused winning mentality after scoring victories in their regional title fights, wanting to also clinch the coveted WBA Asia crown, and a possible berth in the world rankings.
In his last outing, the heavy-tattooed Chaloemporn (on the left) from Nakhon Sawan, claimed the interim WBC Asia Silver Light Heavyweight strap; while his tough opponent, "Buriram Warrior" Tewa Kiram, 28, defended his WBA ASIA 154-pound title.
The 32-year-old Chaloemporn has already battled at heavyweight. But this will be the very first time that Tewa Kiram fights at 175, which is twenty pounds north of the tonnage he made in his last combat a year ago.
Prior to that, Tewa Kiram battled for years as the unbeaten PABA welterweight champion, even getting in the ring against the now retired Lucas Matthysse for the welterweight world title in 2018.
Kiram did not win against Matthysse, but displayed good boxing, slick moves and a tormenting jab. That was Tewa Kiram at 147. Saturday's melee is at 175.
Would that excess baggage affect Kiram's speed and moves, making him a reachable target? Better not as Chaloemporn can detonate pretty destructive firepower from both hands.
In fact, the two war-hardened fighters can strike hard if they land clean with full force, which prompts fans to think that their rumble might not make the distance.
If so, who would knock out who? May the best man win!
