According to news on BoxingScene, popular Filipino former 4-division world champion Nonito Donaire (40-6, 26 KO’s) has unfortunately tested positive for coronavirus Covid-19.

Because of that, Nonito will no longer be able to battle Puerto Rican former titlist 🇵🇷 Emmanuel Rodríguez (19-1, 12 KO’s) for the vacant WBC bantamweight world title on December 19 live on Showtime.

Likely, the fight will be re-scheduled as soon as the WBC #1 ranked Nonito has fully recovered and is again strong and fit to rumble.

However, the Puerto Rican Emmanuel Rodriguez – who last year was sensationally knocked out in two by “The Monster” Naoya Inoue – might still fight on same date and venue against a late-sub opponent, possibly a Pinoy fighter.

As Nonito’s 38th Birthday arrives this coming Wednesday, his many fans around the world wish him all the best and a speedy recovery.

Born in the paradise island of Bohol in 1982, the beloved and exciting “Filipino Flash,” a sure future Hall of Famer, has thrilled fans with sizzling performances since his his first pro fight in 2001.

Nonito Donaire’s last fight against Japanese world champion Naoya Inoue (20-0, 17 KO’s) won the prestigious “Fight of the Year Award” for 2019.

Get well fast Nonito! 👍
