CSJDM is Gov. Daniel Fernando Inter-Town Online Chess Team Champion

Manila, Philippines---The City of San Jose Del Monte (CSJDM) Chess Team A emerged as champion of the Governor Daniel R. Fernando Online Team Rapid Chess Tournament Grandfinals which was held Sunday, November 29, 2020 at lichess.org.

Playing for CSJDM Chess Team A were Warren Wacan, Joshua Heshed Crismo, Joemarie Resurreccion, Justin Macapuno, John Edward Vito Cruz and Aleck Ben Louise Saniego. They toppled CSJDM B (3-1) and Malolos A (2.5-1.5) in the first two rounds of the single round robin finals then hold a draw(2-2)in the last match against Sta. Maria A enough to clinch the title. The CSJDM chess team is coached by WIM Catherine Perena-Secopito and Team Manager is Mr. Ramir Ellar.

Meanwhile, Team B of Nikka Nazario, Micky Gilbuena, Joshua Juaneza, Kenneth Justine Palaña, Jhune Angelo Dultra and Shanaia Tamayo bounced back from a round 1 loss to CSJDM A (1-3) and finished strong by defeating Sta. Maria( 2.5-1.5) and Malolos (2.5-1.5) respectively for a runner up finish.

"This achievement is a team effort. We would like to congratulate the team members as well as the people behind this success." said head coach WIM Catherine Perena-Secopito.

Organized by the Bulacan Sports Division headed by OIC, Sports Division Tournament director Mr. Benjamin B. Santos Jr. and Deputy Tournament director Mr. Normel Benigno R. De Jesus and sponsored jointly by Gov. Daniel R. Fernando, Vice Gov.Wilhelmino "Willy" Manucdoc Sy-Alvarado and Provincial Youth, Sports and Public Employment Service Office Department Head Atty. Kenneth Z. Ocampo-Lantin, Chief Arbiter is FNA Byron G.Villar assisted by Deputy Chief Arbiter FNA Almario Marlon Q. Bernardino Jr. in the weekend tournament applying the 15 minutes + 2 seconds increment time control format.-Marlon Bernardino-
