Gov. Daniel Fernando Championship for Hagonoy Kiddies Chess Team

Manila, Philippines----The Hagonoy Kiddies Chess Team edged the competition for a runaway victory in the Governor Daniel R. Fernando Inter-Town Online Chess Team Tournament held last November 21 and 22, 2020 at lichess.org.

Playing for Hagonoy Kiddies Chess Team were Stef Extra, David Paul Sanchez, Wanje Crisostomo and Venice Pascual, scored 21.5 points to capture the crown 14 years old and below kiddies division using the 15 minutes + 2 seconds increment time control format.

The City of San Jose Del Monte Chess Team (14.0 points), meantime placed second, composed of David Leonard Azuela, Chrose Edward Vito Cruz, Brylle James Bacasmas and Josh Delos Santos.
Running third was the Sta. Maria Chess Team (9.5 points) followed by Bocaue Chess Team (2.0 points).

The free registration two weekend tournament is sponsored by Gov. Daniel R. Fernando and Vice Gov.Wilhelmino "Willy" Manucdoc Sy-Alvarado, in cooperation with PYSPESO headed by its Department Head, Atty. Kenneth Z. Ocampo-Lantin and Bulacan Sports Division.

Tournament director is OIC, Sports Division Benjamin B. Santos Jr. while Deputy Tournament Director is Normel Benigno R. De Jesus. Chief Arbiter is FNA Byron G.Villar assisted by Deputy Chief Arbiter FNA Almario Marlon Q. Bernardino Jr.
The Online Chess tournament will resume this weekend. Among the favorites in the Open category were International Master Angelo Young (Marilao), National Master Gerardo "Gerry" Cabellon (Bocaue), National Master Nick Nisperos (Obando), National Master Michael Gotel (Sta. Maria) and brothers Karl Victor and Kyle Emmanuel Ochoa (Malolos).-Marlon Bernardino-
