EARLY RESULTS FROM LAS VEGAS: HOWARD, MURATALLA STAY UNBEATEN

Following are the undercard results of the Terence Crawford vs Kell Brook WBO welterweight championship at The Bubble at MGM Grand Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas Saturday night (Sunday in Manila).

4th fight, 8 rounds middleweight: Tyler Howard of Crossville, TN stays undefeated winning by unanimous decision over KeAndrae Leatherwood of Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Leatherwood took the early rounds lost steam as Howard came strong in the second half of the fight. Howard connected a grazing punch to the chest at Leatherwood in the fourth round that resulted in a knockdown and again in the 8th and last round, Howard connected with another punch to the chest of Leatherwood that dropped Leatherwood again. Judges scores: Max DeLuca 77-74; John McKaie 76-74; and Steve Weisfeld 77-73 all in favor of Howard who now improved to 19 wins with 11 wins by stoppage. Leatherwood dropped to 22-8-1, 13KOs.


Ragan (R) throws a right against Gutierrez.
3rd fight, 4 rounds featherweight: Duke Ragan (3-0-0, 1KO) of Cincinnati, Ohio was too sharp against Sebastian Gutierrez (1-1, 1KO ) of Oxnard, CA scoring a knockdown in the second round as well as winning all the rounds. Scores: 40-35 all in favor of Ragan.


Aussie Larfield drops Flores.
2nd fight, 4 rounds bantamweight: Vegas Larfield of Brisbane, Australia improved to 2-0 all by knockouts after stopping Juan Alberto Flores of Monterrey, Mexico in the third round. Flores absorbed his first loss and dropped to 2-1-1.


Muratalla (R) engages Porozo in close combat.
In the opening bout scheduled for 6 rounds featherweight, undefeated Raymond Muratalla of Fontana, CA knocked out Luis Porozo of Santo Domingo, Ecuador in round three. Time: 2:40 of the third round. Muratalla improved his impressive record to 11 wins and 9 knockouts. Porozo dropped to 15-5-0, 8KOs.
