
Abelgas wins Pretty Zada online chess tourney

Fide Master and International Master elect Roel Abelgas won the Pretty Zada Skin Care Products online chess tournament on Wednesday, November 11, 2020.
Abelgas, forcemoverobot on Lichess, finished with 76 points in 31 games for a win rate of 77 percent and performance rating of 2362 to win the event that drew players worldwide.
The event was presented by Lichess Battle Arena, hosted by Mc Daniel Ebao, organized by Bayanihan Chess Club.
The online tournament had time control of one minutes with an increment of one second and players must win as many games in two hours of play.
Abelgas, one of the top players of Dasmarinas Chess Team under the guidance of rep. Elpidio "Pidi" Barzaga Jr., won 24 games, and lost seven games for his aggregate score.
Abelgas was the assistant coach of national paralympic chess team under the baton of head coach International Arbiter James Infiesto.
Noel Jay "Super B" Estacio of San Dionisio, Iloilo took the second spot with 62 points on 29 games and a win rate of 69 percent on 20 wins for a performance rating of 2258.
In third place was Francis Talaboc of Taguig City who had 61 points on 30 games and a win rate of 63 percent on 19 wins for a performance rating of 2205.
National Master Cesar Mariano of Iloilo City and National Master Carlos Edgardo Garma of Manila finished fourth and 5th with 57 and 56 points, respectively.
Rounding up to the top 10 (ten) were sixth, Neph Bantang (45 pts.), seventh, Rafael Velasco Jr. (42 pts.), eight, Mark Mariano (38 pts.), ninth, Marc Simborio (38 pts.), and tenth, Roncar Raffy Tivar (38 pts.).-Marlon Bernardino-
