Suelo tops Arnel Mahawan online chess tilt

MANILA, Philippines — Singapore based Arena Grandmaster and Fide Master elect Robert Suelo claimed another title in the bullet online tournaments of the Bayanihan Chess Club after topping the 10-year-old Birthday Celebration of Arnel Mahawan Jr. held Wednesday night, Nov.4, 2020 on lichess.org.
Suelo, a former varsity player of Rizal Technological University (RTU) completed the 2 hours Arena tournament with the highest output 114 points to romp away with the crown.
Italy based Grandmaster Roland Salvador from San Jose Del Monte, Bulacan placed second with 84 points followed by 3rd place Fide Master and International Master elect Roel Abelgas of Dasmarinas City, Cavite with 71 points.
United States master Jojo Aquino of Antipolo City and Alexis Emil Maribao of Quezon City occupied the fourth and fifth spots with 63 and 60 points each.
Mary Palero Segarra of Davao City won the top lady award, Al Basher Buto took top kiddy plum while Noel Jay Estacio of San Dionisio, Iloilo grab the top Kaunlaran category in the event backed up by Jocelyn Luna Mahawan which participated by 160 woodpushers worldwide.-Marlon Bernardino-
