MAYER DOMINATES BRODNICKA TO WIN THE WBO JR LIGHTWEIGHT TITLE

Rio Olympian Mikaela Mayer of Colorado Springs dominated Ewa Brodnicka of Warsaw, Poland in the featured bout on the Inoue-Moloney card at The Bubble at MGM Grand in Las Vegas Saturday night (Sunday in Manila) and snatched Brodnicka's WBO junior lightweight belt that the Polish held since 2018. Judges scores: Lisa Giampa and Dave Moretti gave all the rounds to Mayer 100-88 while Steve Weisfeld had 99-89, also for Mayer. Mayer improves to 14 wins with 5 KOs while Brodnicka suffered his first career defeat and dropped to 19-1-0, 2KOs.


In a 10-round junior lightweight bout, Brazilian Olympian Robson Conceicao bucked to knockdowns to outlast Louie Coria of Moreno Valley, California. Judges John McKale and don Trella had it 95-92 and Eric Cheek 95-92 all in favor of Conceicao who kept his undefeated record to 15 wins with seven stoppages while Coria dropped to 12-4-0, 7KOs.
