Argentina 147-pounder Juan Hernán Leal of Buenos Aires was crowned tonight as the new WBO welterweight Latino champion by defeating Brazilian Fernando Pinto vía 2nd round TKO during the closed-doors show held at the Coliseu Boxing Center in Guarulhos, São Paulo, Brazil.
The card was a huge organizational effort done by promoter Sampson Lewkowicz together with Tello Box, televised live in Latin America on TyC Sports.
Not much action was unfolding in the fight other than the more aggressive stance of the porteño Argentinian till about a the 60 second mark in round two a crushing bomb hit the Brazilian fighter right in his ear, rocking him rough to the canvas with a dramatic delayed effect that momentarily stiffed his legs.
With much effort, still visibly very dizzy, the brave Fernando Pinto managed to stand up, but his uncoordinated state led referee Mr. Peixoto to stop the battle at the 1:46 minute mark in chapter two.
With his victory, the 147-lbs Argentinian Juan Leal raised his record to (11-1-1, 4 KO’s) while hard-hitting Brazikian “El Cruel” Fernando Pinto came down to (8-2-1, 7 KO’s).
