Just like a tornado, Mexican WBC Flyweight World Champion Julio César "El Rey" Martínez (17-1, 13 KO's) did not waste any time in attacking and stopping late-sub compatriot Moises Calleros today in Ciudad de México.
With the win, the fast Martinez retains for the 2nd time the WBC flyweight world title that he won by stopping Nicaraguan Crístofer Rosales last December in Phoenix, Arizona.
From the getgo, the aggressive Martínez came forward at Calleros dishing out power blows, rocking him down to the canvas in the 1st round.
In the second, “El Rey” Martínez again landed hard on Calleros, forcing him back to the ropes where he intensified the onslaught, hurting Calleros till Chihuahua third man César Castañón correctly stop the uneven battle.
Official time of the TKO was 2 minute 42 seconds in round 2.
After the quick win, the 25-year-old "Rey" Martinez feels ready for more exciting world title action in the 112 or 115 pound division.
The fight was promoter by Promociones Zanfer and Matchroom Boxing live on DAZN, Boxeo Azteca and ESPN.
