Mexican world title challengers Carlos “El Príncipe” Cuadras, as well as Máximino Flores have both tested positive for COVID-19, immediately deleting their chances to rumble for world crowns in Ciudad de México on October 23 live on DAZN.
“El Príncipe” Cuadras was scheduled to challenge his popular compatriot Juan Francisco “El Gallo” Estrada in an exciting clash for the WBC Super Flyweight World championship. That is not going to happen next.
In fact, Estrada vs Cuadras II was supposed to be a much-wanted rematch for their really close and intense world title battle in Los Angeles three years ago. Forget about it for now.
Meanwhile, Max Flores – the Mexican boxer who last year defeated Filipino Carlo Peñalosa in a highly controversial result was set to fulfill his dream of fighting for the WBC flyweight belt.
Flores was set to rumble against WBC 112-pound monarch Julio César “El Rey” Martínez. Covid-19 has turned Max’s dream into a nightmare.
Cuadras and Flores are now out of the picture. Their fights are now against COVID. We all wishing them a speedy recovery,
In consequence, Flyweight and Super Flyweight late subs are now being urgently searched all over to battle world champions Estrada and Martínez at pressing moments when time is fast running out.
The event is meant to be a hot three-world title show in Mexico produced by Britain’s Matchroom Boxing live worldwide on DAZN.
Fortunately, the title defense of Nicaraguan 4-division star and reigning WBA Super Flyweight World Champion Román “Chocolatito” González against young Mexican challenger Israel “Jiga” González is still green lighted as the two Gonzalez have tested negative for the treacherous contagious virus. 🦠
Lets find out what happens next.
