Five-time Olympian Woman International Master Cristine Rose Mariano-Wågman Lands European Magazine Cover

Manila, Philippines---Five-time Olympian Woman International Master Cristine Rose Mariano-Wågman made the Philippines proud by becoming the first Filipina to grace the cover of a European chess magazine.

Mariano, a multi-time national champion, is featured in the front cover of the prestigious chess magazine Schack in its latest issue.

The former University of the East mainstay Mariano is a Palarong Pambansa gold medalist during her College days. She is also a silver medalist in the national judo womens 60kg category.

Mariano, a former Philippine Airforce Chess Team mainstay is now residing in Umeå, Sweden.

She is scheduled to return to the 64 square board thru online games by competing in the much awaited Baby Uno Chess Challenge dubbed as Grandmaster and Attorney Rosendo Carreon Balinas Jr. Death Anniversary Free Registration Online Chess Tournament on September 27, 2020, Sunday, 11 am Manila Time at lichess.org.-Marlon Bernardino-
