1st Gerona Chess Club Online Championship at lichess

Top chess players in the region will be vying for the 1st Gerona Chess Club Online Championship which begins on Saturday, September 5, 2020, at lichess.org.
Paolo Cortez, President of Gerona Chess Club in Gerona, Tarlac said 13-time National Open champion Gandmaster Rogelio "Joey" Antonio Jr. will be the top-seeded player in the bullet (1 plus 1) event with touch challenge coming from National Masters Bob Jones Liwagon and Elwin Retanal, United States chess master Jojo Aquino, veteran campaigner Sherwin Tiu, Joseph Rivera,Jeffrey Pascual and John Ranel Morazo.
"The chess club aims to promote and support chess in this time of Pandemic," said Paolo Cortez, President of Gerona Chess Club in Gerona, Tarlac.
The tournament will be played in a 17-round Swiss System format with the winner taking home P700, second place P400, third place P200, fourth place P100 and fifth place P100 while Sixth to 10th placers will get P50 each.
