
FM Valencia led Edmonton,Canada eyes revenge vs FEU batch 94-PH chess team

Manila---Edmonton, Canada seeks revenge versus former varsity player of Far Eastern University-PH chess team as they slug it out in a Team Battle this weekend at lichess.org.
The Edmondon, Canada based Pinoy woodpushers headed by Fide Master Belsar Valencia and his teammates Butch Villavieja, Dante Briones, Mark Tuvera, Joseph Young, Mark Ivanescu and team captain Alvin "Babin Smith" Guevarra who is also one of the major sponsor of the tournament, however are still expected to come out and play with their hearts to bounce back after a sorry loses last Sunday.
FEU Chess Team batch 94, led by Ritchie Evangelista, Leo Peñaredondo, Gilo Estrella and tournament MVP Christopher Megino with a highest rating in bullet Lichess of 2563 ruled the second edition of FEU vs Canada ChessTeam Battle at Lichess.org last Sunday.
It was a two sets of time control to finish the game, the first was 3 minutes for each player to play the game, and the second time control was 3 minutes plus 2 seconds increment to finish the game.
The team lasted for three hours which was tense at the start until the players from Morayta based team pulled away to claim the victory at the half.
US based Ranier Labay will be playing this weekend for the Tamaraws chess squad.
This tournament is being organized by FEU Chess Team 94 to promote online chess tournaments and camaraderie among players from different parts of the globe.-Marlon Bernardino-
