OJ Reyes wins Brainy Chess Academy online chess tourney

Manila---Filipino chess wizard Oshrie Jhames “OJ” Constantino Reyes dominated the 29th Brainy Chess Academy (BCA) Junior Under 18 Chess Arena nationwide online chess tournament via lichess.org over the weekend.

The nine-years-old Dila-Dila, Santa Rita, Pampanga Reyes, an incoming grade 4 pupil, finished with 56 points in 19 games for a win rate of 84 percent and performance rating of 2284 to win the event jointly organized by Malaysian coach Suhaib Azmi, Indonesian coach Kirpan Bahawan and Filipino coach Glenn Hullana Garcia.

It shall be recalled that Reyes also won the 15th BCA Age group rapid arena championships last June 13, the 9th BCA Juniors Open Blitz Arena Championships last June 24 and the 13th Brainy Chess Academy (BCA) Junior Under 18 Chess Arena nationwide online chess last July 6.

"Congrats Kuya Oshrie Jhames Constantino Reyes for dominating 29th BCA under 18 online Chess Tournament organized by Brainy Chess Academy - Malaysia. This is your 5th Championship title from strong Field BCA Junior / Kiddies Tournament. Keep it up. More efforts, more practice and more new lessons to learn." said Jubail, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia based Jimmy Reyes, father/coach of OJ.

John Esencia, meanwhile took the second spot with 44 points on 16 games and a win rate of 88 percent for a performance rating of 2305.

In third place is Ariel Montero who had 37 points on 17 games and a win rate of 71 percent for a performance rating of 2183.-Marlon Bernardino-
