Battle for P25T bounty begins as Birthday Tour chessfest kicks off this Sunday

Some of the country best woodpushers will converge this Sunday, June 28 to vie for supremacy in the Nightbird 357 Birthday online chess tournament starting at 1 p.m. at the lichess.org.

Jointly organized by Mindanao Chess Circuit and Eggheads Chess Circle, backed up by Canadian National Master Zulfikar Sali, sponsor the 25 thousand pesos prize fund in celebration of Joselito Dormitorio's birthday last June 20.

"The first project of the Mindanao Chess Circuit, an idea hatched in Boracay last year will unfold on Sunday, June 28, 2020. Canadian National Master Zulfikar Sali, a frontliner in Canada and a Filipino of Tausug blood will sponsor the 25 thousand pesos prize fund in celebration of my birthday last June 20. Thanks Zul (Zulfikar Sali)," said executive champion Joselito Dormitorio.

"This will be the beginning of a series of tournaments which is open to all Mindanao players. Visayas and Luzon players will be screened or through invitation only. Pasalamat din ito to all PECA players/donors who helped in making the Helping Hand Project an overwhelming success. Free Registration," he added.

The champion will take home P5,000, while the second to fifth will receive P4,000, 3,000, P2,000 and P1,000, respectively.
Fifth to tenth will get P500 each while 11th to 15th will bring home P300 each.

Those who will make it to the top 20 will get P200 each. The top finisher in the Senior 55 years old and above, kiddie 11 years old and below, lady, media, frontliner and Zamboanga player will get P500 apiece.

The top 3 PECANS (PECA executive) will get P1,000, P700 and P500, in order.

Special award P100 each for beat the birthday celebrator (Joselito Dormitorio aka Nightbird 357) and beat the master (Zulfikar Sali aka Covid Killer).

Meanwhile the 4th Baby Uno Online chess tournament gets underway on Sunday, June 28 at eight pm at the lichess.org.
