Pichay Appoints Paez, Cruz as NCFP Assistant Executive Directors

MANILA---National Chess Federation of the Philippines (NCFP) Chairman/President Rep. Prospero "Butch" Arreza Pichay Jr. has appointed Mr. Alfredo "Fred" Paez as Assistant Executive Director for Southern Luzon and Mr. Reden "Red" Cruz to serve as the new Assistant Executive Director for Central and Northern Luzon respectively.

"These two (Alfredo Paez and Reden Cruz) gentlemen, who are working as volunteers, will help bring all of the NCFP's plans and programs into fruition in their respective jurisdictions. I will ask all chess clubs to work and cooperate with them for the development of chess in the Philippines," said NCFP Executive Director Atty. Cliburn Anthony Orbe.

"Thank you so much for the trust and confidence, NCFP President Cong. (Prospero) Pichay as Assistant Executive Director, I hope that I can significantly contribute in the development and promotion of chess, particularly, in South Luzon. Thank you also, Atty. (Cliburn Anthony) Orbe for your great involvement and unwavering support. It is truly an inspiration to a lot of players. Congratulations to my Northern & Central Luzon counterpart, IA Reden Cruz." said Mr. Paez.

Mr. Paez from Cabuyao City, Laguna is the new president of the Philippine Executive Chess Association (PECA) while Mr. Cruz from Malolos City, Bulacan got his full pledge International Arbiter (IA) title from the World Chess Federation.-Marlon Bernardino-
