Faledonia brothers dominates Manila meet

Jasper Concepcion Faeldonia, top player of Arellano University under the tutelage of National Master Rudy Ibañez bagged the championship crown of the latest Manila Meet 2019 (Chess High School Boys). He defeated National University Board 1 Player Chester Niel Reyes with a score of 2-1 in the penultimate round and demolished his team mate Allan Gabriel Hilario, a former 2018 Philippine Team ASEAN Age Group member, with a score of 2.5 - 0.5 to win the championship crown. They also got the Gold Medal for the Team.

It will be recalled that Jasper brought honor to the Philippines by winning silver in the 35th Singapore National Age Group chess championship held at Kallang Theater from December 27 to 30. Jasper, a native of Odiongan, Romblon, competed in the Boys Under-14 category.

Meanwhile, Jerick Concepcion Faeldonia, of Legarda Elementary school under coach Raquel Escal and the younger brother of Jasper defeated board leader James Alberto in the penultimate round with a score of 2-1 and blanked Xianne Calimpusan of RCMAES 3-0 in the final round to place 2nd and assured of a slot in the 2020 NCR Meet.
