IM Bancod leads entries for Open Kitchen tournament

FORMER World Chess Olympiad member International Master Ronald Bancod leads the early entries for the Open Kitchen chess tournament slated August 5 (Monday) at 34-36 P. Tuazon Boulevard (formerly LVN production) Brgy. Kaunlaran, Cubao, Quezon City.

The 2007 National Open champion Ronald is the younger brother of Tempo Sports editor Rey Bancod who topped the Metropolitan Chess Club (MCC) Standard Chess Tournament held at the Starmall Edsa Shaw in Mandaluyong City last January.

Tournament Registration is Free, Free Food and with surprise cash prizes to the winners in the event backed up by Ms. China Aurelio and Mr. John Gomez of Open Kitchen, Mr. Jeffrey Dimalanta, Barangay Kaunlaran chairman Christopher "Dong" Cheng, International Master (IM) Joel Banawa of Rising Phoenix Chess Academy, Jimmy Reyes, Fide Master (FM) Teodulfo "Jojo" Nones, Mr. Edwin Llamo, Mr. Danilo Ebao of Three Knights Printing Services, Arena Grandmaster (AGM) Robert Suelo Jr., former olympian Woman National Master (WNM) Cristina Santos, International Memory champion Roberto Racasa, Pocari Sweet and Auckland-New Zealand based Mr. Jun Isaac.

The one-day 15 minutes rapid time control play to finish format is being held to coincide with the 42nd birthday celebration of Arena Grandmaster (AGM) Almario Marlon Quiroz Bernardino Jr.
