
Recaido, Evangelista, Mapugay off to good start in MAPPA Predator-Wilde Blu 8-Ball Cup tilt

ENGINEER Vergel Recaido, Jaime Evangelista and world renowned blogger Leslie " Anito Kid" Mapugay got off to a blazing start by posting victories in the opening round of the Makati Pool Players Association (MAPPA) Predator-Wilde Blu 8-Ball Cup Friday night held at the AMF-Puyat Superbowl and Billiards Center, Makati Cinema Square in Makati City.
Recaido, president of the Copper Electronics Expertise, Inc., defeated Jiro Alvero, 4-3, Evangelista, an office engineer blasted June Tornisto, 4-0, while Mapugay edged call center employee Trexie Alix, 3-2.
?The first round is one of the toughest rounds in any tournament. It usually sets the tone of how you?re going to perform,? said Recaido, who beat Tristan Aguas, 7-4, in the finals of the 2017 J&P 10-Ball Cup Championships.
No less than World Champions Francisco "Django" Bustamante and Rubilen Amit, MAPPA (Makati Pool Players Association) president Arvin Arceo, DMC Entertainment and Production management boss Jesse Gonzales Cambosa Sr. and national team members, Irish Ranola and Flordeliza Andal led the opening rites in this P100,000 total pot prize 8-ball tournament supported by long-time billiards patron sportsman/businessman Aristeo ?Putch? Puyat who is also the chairman of the Billiards Sports Confederation of the Philippines (BSCP). Joining them in the opening rites are other officials of MAPPA that includes Gerald Novales (Vice President), Cheward Bonode (Treasurer), James Torres (secretary), Jerome Intac (auditor) and Patrick Clavel (tournament director).
