
WFM Racasa to play in Sri Lanka

THE Philippines' youngest Woman Fide Master Antonella Berthe "Tonelle" Murillo Racasa will head to Sri Lanka with hopes of improving her world ranking aside from bringing more honor for the country.
Accompanied by his father/coach Roberto Racasa who is also an International Memory Sports champion, fondly called Tonelle in chess world will see action at the Asian Youth Chess Championships slated from April 1 to 10, 2019 in Kaluthara, Sri Lanka.
Tonelle won in the 19th ASEAN International Age Group Chess Championship held last June 2018 in Davao City. She bagged the gold medal in the standard competition and at the same time captured the coveted WFM title for her effort.
Thus, Tonelle became the country's WFM at the age of 11.
She also won the 18th ASEAN International Age Group Chess Championship held in Kuantan, Malaysia in 2017 en route to her Asean Chess Master title at the age of 10 and the National Age Group Girls Under 10 Champion in Cebu City at the age of 9.
Tonelle is fresh from winning the fifth International School Manila Chess Cup last Saturday at the International School Manila in Taguig City. She tallied six points to spearhead Home School Global Chess Team A into an over-all team champion. Other member of the Home School Global chess team were Andrew James Toledo (5 points), Ethan Jackenzie Ang (4.5 points) and Ernest Jacoby Ang (4 points).
Home School Global chess team bagged the championship trophy with 19.5 points, 2.5 points ahead over second and third placers MGC New Life Christian Academy Team A and Xavier School Team A who got 17 points apiece.
Host International School Manila Team A placed over-all fourth place with 16 points.-Marlon Bernardino-
