ROHANISAH BUTO ruled the 2019 National Age-Group Chess Championships (NAGCC)- Luzon Leg being held at the Pacific Mall in Legazpi City, Albay last Sunday.
Shrugging off a loss against Jonah Kris Llantino in the second round, the Grade 9 pupil of Faith Christian School in Cainta, Rizal, won his last four games against Deanne Clarice Bea (round 3), Francine Frigola (round 4), Ruth Joy Vinuya (round 5) and Janneth Mercader (round 6), respectively to clinch the Girls Under-16 title in the event hosted by Legaspi City mayor Noel Ebriega Rosal.
Rohanisah who brought downed Lizzie Jane Apigo in the opening round collected five points on five wins and one loss to win the six-round tournament.
