
Gaticales leads PECA executive chess tourney

MVP Olympics PLDT Team Manager Martin "Binky" Gaticales remains on top in the over-all grand prix standings (Challenger's division) after accumulating 29 points in the 2nd leg of the Alphaland National Executive Grand Prix Active Chess Championships recently.
In solo second place is engineer Angel Tambong Jr. with 22 points and Atty. Rodrigo Aquino with 21 points in third.
Rounding up to the Top 10 are 4. engineer Jay Arcenal (19 points), 5. Mr. Orlando Pascual (18 points), 6.Mr. Chris Cuntapay (17 points), 7. Laurence Wilfred ?Larry? Dumadag (16 points), 8. Mr. Roman Espiso (15 points), 9. Mr. Roberto Manguiob (14 points) and 10. Mr. Arvin Olorvida (13 points).
The 3rd leg will be held on March 16, 10 am the Activity Hall, Second Floor Alphaland Makati Place in Malugay Street, Makati City while the 4th leg gets going on March 31 at the Ayala Malls, Capitol Central, Gatuslao Street in Bacolod City Negros Occidental thru initiative of realtor Ernie Abanco and under the guidance of PECA Vice President for the Visayas NM Wilfredo Neri.
Organized by the Philippine Executive Chess Association (PECA) under the leadership of newly-installed president Dr. Jenny Mayor, the 20-minutes plus 5 seconds increment time control format is backed up by Alphaland Makati Place and sanctioned by the National Chess Federation of the Philippines (NCFP). The two divisions competing are:Open division (2000 & above rating) and Challenger's division (1999 and below rating).
