Martin "Binky" Gaticales to grace Fide Master Camilo Pangan Birthday Chess Invitational Tournament

Martin "Binky" Gaticales will make an appearance as the guest speaker in the formal opening of the Fide Master Camilo Pangan Birthday Chess Invitational Tournament on Sunday, January 13, 2019 at the Panciteria ni Tess (Old Bus Terminal) Lane 12 at the Araneta Center in Cubao Quezon City in front of the Shopwise Mall and close to Ali Mall.

Gaticales, one of the prime movers of Philippine Executive Chess Association (PECA) who is also the director of the National Chess Federation of the Philippines (NCFP) as well MVP Olympics PLDT Team Manager, is expected to encourage participants to continue to play the sport.

He may also share his secrets of his rise as one of the executive top players during his time.

The competition starts at 10 a.m. and will apply time control of 5 minutes per player.

Eight-times Illinois, USA champion International Master Angelo Young, who organized the chess tournament, said Gaticales was the perfect choice as guest speaker. ?Most of the young kids today look up to him as their idol,? Young said.

Among those invitees in the Fide Master Camilo Pangan Birthday Chess Invitational Tournament are International Master Chito Garma, International Master Ricky De Guzman, International Master Chris Ramayrat, International Master Angelo Young, Fide Master Adrian Ros Pacis, Fide Master Christopher Castellano, Woman Fide Master Allaney Jia Doroy, National Master Efren Bagamasbad, National Master Romeo Alcodia, National Master and United States master Almario Marlon Bernardino Jr., United States chess master Jose "Jojo" Aquino, seven-times executive champion Dr. Jenny Mayor, Enrica Villa, Edgar Bautista, Jude Ulanday and Jasper Concepcion Faeldonia, the reigning Philippines boys 14 and under champion is fresh from a Co-Champion of the 35th Singapore National Age Group Chess Championships Boys 14 and under category last December 27 to 30, 2018 at the Kallang Theather in Singapore.
