
MANDAUE City's Nadera tops "Boy Bolok" Santos Jr. Invitational Rapid Chess

INTERNATIONAL Master (IM) Barlo Nadera returned to top of his game by winning the recent Councilor Thaddeus Antonio "Boy Bolok" Santos Jr. Invitational Rapid Chess Championship on Saturday held in Marikina City.
The Mandaue City, Cebu native Nadera, rank Sargeant and one of the top players of Philippine Airforce Chess Team playing under the wings of Colonel Aldrick Dela Torre and Lieutenant Colonel Vicente Flora Jr., collected 4.5 points on four wins and a draw to win the five-round tournament being held coincide the birthday celebration of Marikina City Councilor Thaddeus Antonio "Boy Bolok" Santos Jr.
Nadera scored victories over Isagani De Ramos in the first round, Ricky Merano in the second round, Fide Master Adrian Ros Pacis in the third round and International Master Chito Garma in the fourth round.
He split the point with International Master Chris Ramayrat in the fifth and final round.
National Master and United States chess master Almario Marlon Bernardino Jr. placed second overall with 4 points on four wins and one loss.
Ramayrat, on the other hand ended in third with 3.5 points on three wins, one draw and one loss.
Garma, meantime led the group of 3 points that includes Salvador "Bobby" Dela Paz, Ferdinand Paet and Edgar Bautista.
Pacis, Merano and De Ramos scored 2.5 points each while Eddie Obelidor got 2 points followed by Eduardo Estrella with 1.5 points and Noel Estacio and Dario Enriquez with 1 point apiece.-Marlon Bernardino-
