AFP-PNP-PCG Olympics 2018 Chess Team Championship: PNP chess team finishes 2nd

THE Philippine National Police chess team settled for silver in the AFP-PNP-PCG Olympics 2018 Chess Team Championship on Wednesday after clashing with Philippine Airforce in the battle for second and third place of the chess team tournament.

The scores were 7-5 in favor of the PNP squad under the guidance of team manager PSSUPT Jonnel Estomo, coaches SPO3 Jomar ?Jomes? Mendoza Pascua and SPO1 Renato ?Buboy? Abalos held at the PNP Sports Center in Camp Crame, Quezon City.
Police Inspector Ronald Agabao, summary hearing officer under Inspector General Atty. Afelgar Triambulo defeated Lieutenant Colonel Vicente Flora Jr., SPO2 National Master Ali Branzuela upset A2C International Master Richilieu Salcedo III , PO3 Ernie Abanco subdued A2C Sheider Nebato and PO1 Neptali Batucan trounced A2C Nigel Galan.

PSI Horizon Villanueva won by default against First Lieutenant Alastair Gavilan as did so PCINSP Alfred Arturo against Lieutenant Colonel Rhyan Reyes.

PSUPT Jaime Santos split the point with First Lieutenant Ryan Castro while PINSP Ferdinand Aterrado halved the point with Colonel Aldrick Dela Torre.

First Lieutenant Jess Pinalgan, Sargeant International Master Barlo Nadera, A2C Kelly Rancap and A2C Lennon Hart Salgados providing the wins for the Philippine Airforce who is coach by Senior Sargeant National Master Ronald LLavanes.

Meanwhile, after 15 years Philippine Army chess team under the baton of team Manager Brigadier General Rodel Mauro Alarcon and Special Service Center Director Lieutenant Colonel Raymond Lachica and coach Corporal Ildefonso ?Ponching? Datu is inch closer to the title with a 12-0 wins against the Philippine Coast Guard.-Marlon Bernardino-
