Huge field vies in 2nd annual Chooks to Go National Rapid Chess Championships

THE 2nd annual Chooks to Go National Rapid Chess Championships braces for a fierce one-day battle of wits when it hold the tournament on October 6, 2018, Saturday at the Activity Center Ayala Malls South Park in Alabang, Muntinlupa City.

A full-packed field has marked in the annual tournament sponsored by Chooks to Go thru it's President and General Manager Ronald Mascari?as, being one of the spawning grounds of chess talents in the country.

?Our belief in developing the Filipino potential, especially in the field of sports, motivates us to continue supporting not only basketball but also chess tournaments, which foster self-confidence and camaraderie among players, said Chooks-to-Go President and General Manager Ronald Mascari?as.

?We extended invitations to top chess players in the Philippines to participate in this event and we are glad that GMs (Joey) Antonio, (Darwin) Laylo, IMs (Oliver) Dimakiling, (Roderick) Nava, (Chito) Garma, FMs (David) Elorta, (Austin Jacob) Literatus and (Elo) Mariano III have expressed their readiness to do battle," said Rotary Club of Nuvali president Noel Divinagracia.

?This is one of the strongest rapid chess tournament in the country and we hope to continue it annually to help provide a venue for local chess players to train and hone their skills and, most importantly, compete with the top players in the country,? added Philippine Executive Chess Association (PECA) Public Relations Officer (PRO) Dr. Alfred ?Fred? Paez.

According to Rotary Club of Nuvali president Noel Divinagracia that the 2nd Chooks to Go National Rapid Chess Championships is a 7-round Swiss System Four Division Tournament with time control of twenty minutes (20) plus 5 seconds delay for each player for the entire game. It is open to all players of all ages, rated or non-rated, male or female.

Around 400 chess players from all over Metro Manila and other parts of the country are expected to participate this year?s National Chess Federation of the Philippines sanctioned tournament.

The organizers Rotary Club of Nuvali and Muntinlupa City, in cooperation with Ayala Malls South Park and Philippine Executive Chess Association put up Kiddies division (12 years old and below), Junior division (13 years old to 17 years old) Executive division (PECA Members) and Open division.

The champion in the Kiddies division (12 years old and below), Junior division (13 years old to 17 years old), Executive division (PECA Members) and Open division will pocketed P5,000, P7,000 , P10,000 and P20,000 plus trophies, respectively.

A registration fee of P500 (Open), P300 (Junior) P250 (Kiddies) and P1,000 (Executive, PECA members) will be required from each division.

Registration for the 2nd Chooks to Go National Rapid Chess Championships is ongoing. Deadline of Registration on October 4, 2018 and No On-site Registration.
