
2nd Gayang Chess Championship "Tara na sa Quezon" set August 25

EVERYTHING is set for the much awaited 2nd Gayang Chess Championship, an Invitational Open Chess Tournament dubbed as "Tara na sa Quezon" gets underway on August 25, 2018, nine am at the Municipal Covered Court in Guinayangan, Quezon.
Organized by former Adamson University varsity player councilor Gilbert Castillo Acob in cooperation with local government unit Sangguniang and Guinayangan Tourism Office, the participants of the tournaments are set to compete in a seven (7) to nine (9) round Swiss System format, depending in the number of the participants and the thirty minutes (30) time control event is sanctioned by the National Chess Federation of the Philippines (NCFP).
"A project aimed at showcasing local festivals, products, culture and arts, and tourist attractions and destinations in this province," said Information Technology (IT) expert Joselito Cada, a native of Lucban, Quezon and one of the prime mover of Philippine Executive Chess Association (PECA) headed by Atty. Cliburn Anthony A. Orbe.
"All Philippine Chess Players such as SGM, GM, IM, FM, NM and Candidate masters are invited," added Fide National Arbiter (FNA) Dr. Alfredo "Fred" Paez, who is also the Press Relation Officer of Philippine Executive Chess Association (PECA).
According to Fide National Arbiter (FNA) Alfredo "Fred" Paez said the individual champion is set to receive P10,000 and a trophy while the next five winners will pocket P7,000 plus trophy, P5,000 plus trophy, P3,000, P2,000 and P1,000, respectively.
7th to 15th placers will get P500 each as well for the category winners Top Senior, Top Lady, Top Junior, Top Kiddies and Top Guinayanganin.
