
TRISHIA ANN PAEZ WINS 27TH GOLDEN MIND CHESSFEST

STA.ROSA City top player Trishia Ann Paez beat fellow six pointers Lipa City bet Jan Kino Corpuz due to superior tiebreak points to emerge champion in the 27th Golden Mind Kiddies Chess Tournament (Under-14) was held last Sunday, March 4, 2018 at the EBR Building, Tagumpay Canteen, Tagumpay Supermarket, Lipa City, Batangas.
Playing under the guidance of coach Antonio Yu Jr., the 12-years-old, Trishia Ann, a grade 7 student of Canossa School, cousin of Philippine Executive Chess Association (PECA) Press Relation Officer Dr. Alfredo "Fred" Paez, received a trophy and a cash prize of P3,000 from Golden Mind Chess Club president Allan Osena in the one day event supported by LBC Express Customer Associate Ryan Lopez Sauz.
Clifford John Bernardo of Sta. Rosa City and Rigil Kent Rose Pahamtang of Lipa City, both tallied 5.5 points apiece placed third and fourth, respectively.
Rounding up to the top 10 were 5th place Cyrus James Damiray (5.0 points), 6th place Gladimir Romero (5.0 points), 7th place Criswen Palamig (5.0 points), 8th place Vincent Ryu Dimayuga (5.0 points), 9th place Charles Zander Juan (5.0 points) and 10th place Precious Nicole Lasin (4.5 points).
Meanwhile, the registration is now on full swing when the chess clinic and simultaneous chess exhibition of National Master Romeo Alcodia of Baras, Rizal gets going on March 25, 2018, Sunday at the same venue.
