Philippine billiards icon Francisco "Django" Bustamante once again scaled the zenith of world billiards after he emerged tournament champion in the 20th Annual Derby City Classic One Pocket division held at the Horseshoe Southern Indiana in Elizabeth, Indiana in US on Saturday.

Bustamante, one of the top players of sportsman/businessman Aristeo "Putch" Puyat of Puyat Sports, toppled American Justin Bergman in the championship match, 3-1, to run away with the title.

International Billiards/Snooker Champion Marlon "Marvelous" Manalo, close friend of Bustamante hailed the victory of the latter saying it is proof that Filipino players are at par if not the best in the world.

"Once again our flag has been raised in the foreign land after our kababayan (Francisco) Bustamante won the 20th Annual Derby City Classic One Pocket division held at the Horseshoe Southern Indiana in Elizabeth, Indiana." said Manalo, top honcho of Barangay Malamig in Mandaluyong City.

Last Tuesday, another Filipino cue master Roberto "Pinoy Superman" Gomez ruled the Derby City Classic Bigfoot 10-Ball Pool Championship. He beat Feder Gorst of Venezuela, 11-10, in the finals.

Bustamante is leading in the race for the Master of the Table/All Around champion.
