DANIEL QUIZON BOUNCES BACK IN CHINA YOUTH CHESS INTERNATIONAL OPEN TOURNAMENT

MANILA, Philippines---Filipino Fide Master (FM) elect Daniel Quizon rebounded with a victory over his rival to remain in contention in the fifth round of the 2018 "Boyi Cup" China Youth Chess International Open Tournament in Harbin, China on Friday.
Smarting from a fourth round setback to Peng Hongchi of China on Thursday, Quizon toppled Wang Xinbo of China and cilmbed to 4.0 points, a full point behind GM Bai Jinshi of China.

Bai defeated Peng to raise his total 5.0 points and grabbed the solo leadership board in the Nine Round Swiss System World Chess Federation (FIDE) sanctioned tournament and being organized by the Chinese Chess Association using the 90 minutes with 30 second increment from move 1 time control format.

?With still four rounds left, it?s still anybody?s race,? said National Chess Federation of the Philippines (NCFP) Vice President Atty. Cliburn Anthony A. Orbe.

Quizon, the pride of Dasmarinas, Cavite, one of the Philippines brighest hope today, defeated Munkhbayar Tsetsenbileg of Mongola, WCM Men Jiayi and Sun Yidi of China, respectively in the first three rounds.
