Filipino bantamweight rising-star Jeo "Santino" Santisima tipped the scales at 123 lbs while his opponent, the the undefeated fearless Eastern African warrior Goodluck Mrema weighed-in three pounds lighter at 120 lbs for their 10-rounder battle tomorrow (July 8) at the newly opened IEC Convention Center in Mabolo, Cebu City.
The two warriors were respectful to each each other during the weigh-in ceremony in the afternoon of today (July 7) at the SM City-Cebu; both ready to rumble and looking in amazing shape.
Santisima (13-2, 11 KO's) appears to be shy kid when you talk to him. But above the ring he is not shy at all.
As one of the stars of the famed ALA Boxing Gym, Santino has been mercilessly vaporizing most of his opponents.
From his last 11 wins, 10 have been by way of knock out, and the Masbate wonder-boy wants more.
Santisima steps on the scales.
Mrema flexes after making weight.
Meanwhile, the unbeaten Mrema - who is the reigning Tanzania Super Bantamweight champion - is fighting for the first time out of Africa, and he does not seem worried at all.
For one thing, Mrema is unbeaten. Does not know what losing is, and he is not interested in learning.
After the weigh-in ceremony was over, Santino, 21, and Mrema, 22, posed for photos with fans; both warriors appearing relaxed in good spirits; and the friendly Goodluck Mrema - who does not speak English - was able somehow to communicate and make friends with Cebu boxing fans.
Present during the weigh-in ceremony was Michael P. Aldeguer President and CEO, president of ALA Boxing Promotions, GAB Cebu supervisor Rolando "Lando" Mendoza, PhilBoxing director Dong Secuya as well as hundreds of fight fans and a good number of members of the media.
The Santisima VS Mrema 10-rounder battle is the co-main event of Pinoy Pride 41 to take center stage tomorrow July 8 at the plush IEC Convention Center, a production of ALA Boxing Promotions.
General admission tickets are 300, 200 and 100 pesos. Nobody can stay home.
Gates on Saturday at IEC Convention Center open at 4 PM.
We have a fight! Santisima (L) an Mrema pose during Friday's weighin.
