ANCAJAS HAS TO BE QUICK AND NOT COMPLACENT

Jerwin Ancajas has to rely on his quickness and experience to successfully defend his International Boxing Federation superflyweight title at Suncorp Stadium as the undercard of the Manny Pacquiao-Jeff Horn main event. His Japanese-Korean opponent Teiru Kinoshita (25-1-1 with 8 KOs) was pictured by Ancajas?s trainer-manager Joven Jimenez as an ultra-aggressive and extra dangerous fighter. Ancajas successfully defended his crown last January with a seventh round stoppage of Jose Alfredo Rodriguez at the Cotai Arena in Macau. The Panabo City world titlist raised his record to 26-1-1 with 17 KOs. Compared to his foe, Ancajas has the better KO rate but he should not be complacent. He won the title from Puerto Rico?s McJoe Arroyo last September.

Kinoshita is six years older at 31 and his only loss was in 2014 against current WBO bantamweight titleholder Zolani Tete for the same crown he will fight against Ancajas. The former Japanese junior bantamweight champion is rated No. 3 by the IBF but has only fought in eight-rounder bouts against lesser opponents before the Tete fight. Ancajas is ranked No. 8 by The Ring at the superflyweight division while Kinoshita is unrated.

Manny Pacqiao arrived in Brisbane, Australia and said he was training very hard and never underestimate Jeff Horn. He said he did a lot of hard work and is very excited for the fans to give a good show to show his best in the boxing ring. Pacquiao told reporters: "I have watched two Jeff Horn fight videos and he's OK, I'm a boxer that never underestimates my opponents." He refuted some reports coming out of the Philippines that he hasn't been training hard. It just happened that when some friends came around to the training camp, the fighting senator was not doing much in practice and people assumed he wasn't training hard. "I want to show my best in the boxing ring in Brisbane for my fans. It's going to be a war, I'm expecting him to come inside close to me fighting toe to toe and I'm ready for that."

Andreas Hale of Boxing Scene said that the mere thought of Floyd Mayweather vs. Conor McGregor is ridiculous and the fight can?t do any more damage to boxing than boxing has already done to itself over the years. Hale said that "terrible matchmaking and the existence of sanctioning bodies to horrible judging that has marred the sport. This fight absolutely cannot add to that. Nor can it rescue boxing from its own litany of problems." He added that the only way this fight can actually hurt boxing is if McGregor were to knock Mayweather out which is a ridiculous idea. Hale amplified the criticisms of the fight by saying "Mayweather is in business for himself. And Mayweather-McGregor is the perfect example of that."
