Unbeaten WBC Minimumweright World Champion Chayaphon Moonsri (also known as Wanheng Menayothi) of Thailand made a successful 7th title defense by scoring a unanimous decision win over Tanzania challenger Omari Kimweri (16-4, 6 KO's) today June 3 in Southern Thailand.

The Thai champion dominated most of the action throughout the fast paced clash, landing the best shots, mostly overhead rights and left hooks, for which the spirited, but ineffective Kimweri had no answer.

As a result, at the end of the 12 rounds, veteran referee Bruce McTavish of New Zealand raised the hand of the Thai champion Chayaphon Moonsri (47-0, 17 KO's), whose victory gets him dangerously close to tie the perfect 49-0 world record for unbeaten world champions held by ring legends Floyd Mayweather Jr (49-0, 26 KO's) and Rocky Marciano (49-0, 43 KO's).

Moonsri is now ordered by the WBC to make the 8th defense of his crown against southpaw speedster WBC Latino Champion Leroy "El Sensasional" Estrada (16-2, 6 KO's) of La Chorrera, Panama. Estrada is WBC # 1, and the Moonsri-Estrada fight will likely take place in Thailand by the end of the year.

The Chayaphon Moonsri's win was broadcast live in the Kingdom of Thailand on open TV Channel 7.
