
FILIPINOS DORONIO, GABEJAN READY FOR ACTION SUNDAY NIGHT IN YAMAGUCHI, JAPAN

Filipino fighters Leonardo Doronio and Edgar Gabejan made weight ahead of their respective non-title fights in an exciting boxing card Sunday (Dec 7) in Shimonoseki City, Yamaguchi Prefecture, Japan.
In the evening's main event, Leonardo "Toto" Doronio (14-9-2, 9 KO's) of Mandaluyong City, Metro Manila, weighed in at 134.2 lbs. (60.9 kg), for his war against local Yamaguchi fighter Accel Sumiyoshi (4-3, 1 KO). Sumiyoshi made 134 lbs (60.8 kg), both warriors inside the lightweight division.
The rumble will be Doronio's second combat in Japan. Last April, he scored a round 4 TKO win over Nippon fighter Nato "Burning" Ishii in the same Yamaguchi venue, and the tough Manila boxer will aim at another knockout win.
In the co-main event, Pinoy veteran Edgar "Koki" Gabejan (26-30-6, 8 KO's) of Parenas, Western Samar, weighed-in 132.2 (60 kgs) while his Japanese foe made 135 lbs(60.5 kg).
Leonardo Doronio is assisted in Japan by Benguet promoter Brico L. Santig of Highland Boxing.
Meanwhile, Edgar Gabejan, 32, who is supported by Barista Choi Vending Solutions will have the experienced Aljoe Jaro of Jaro Boxing as his cornerman.
This boxing card in Shimonosek, Yamaguchi, i is a production of Japanese outfit Kanmon Japan Boxing.
