If this was Fight Week in Macao, China and Sunday morning (Saturday night in the States) was Fight Day, Chris Algieri is fit and ready to test one of boxing?s pound for pound best.

Six weeks before their World Boxing Organization (WBO) welterweight showdown at The Cotai Arena inside the classy The Venetian Macao Resort, the undefeated American fighter is in top shape to challenge Manny Pacquiao, the champion from the Philippines.

This was the assessment of one of Algieri?s trainers, Keith Trimble who spoke to Philboxing.com regarding his boxer?s first month of training camp at his Bellmore Kickboxing Academy in Long island.

?It?s great. He is right on point. He is in shape like usual. He is fast, strong. He is good to go,? said Trimble who supervised Algieri?s training and sparring in New York.

Algieri started sparring two weeks ago and Trimble expressed satisfaction with his boxer?s performance against their chosen sparring partners.

?He sparred three times. It is good. It is like we just left off from his last fight. After the first sparring session, his timing is there. He?s already getting there. He did six rounds each time with no problem. Like I said again, his conditioning is never an issue.?

Algieri earned the right to face and challenge Pacquiao after his gutsy win over Ruslan Provodnikov of Russia at the Barclay?s Center last summer. He endured two knockdowns in Round 1 and fought with one eye to eke out a Split Decision victory against the tough Russian, capturing the WBO?s junior welterweight belt in the process.

Algieri is now in Las Vegas, Nevada in his second and final phase of camp, before his November 23rd (22nd in the States) battle with Pacquiao who is also busy with his own training camp in southern Philippines.

Algieri will be trained by Trimble?s partner, Tim Lane and Conditioning Coach Michael Camp and continue what they have started in New York. Trimble will stay in New York to train his other fighters, both in boxing and in Mixed Martial Arts.

?He will be with my partner, Tim Lane. I am going to try to get out there. It?s just have that I have other fighters and November is a busy month for me. November 1st, I have my heavyweight boxer, 7-0 with 7 KOs fighting in Chicago and then one of my UFC fighters fighting November 15th down in Mexico City. I will try to get out there for a week or so but the next phase is just continue on what we were doing here in New York.?

Algieri, according to Trimble will spar three days a week -usually Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Tuesdays and Thursdays are usually devoted to hitting the pads and Strength and Conditioning exercises. Algieri sparred with Lightweight boxer and former title contender Sharif Bogere Monday in his first week of training in Las Vegas

?It?s typical of what we?ve always done,? said Trimble.

Team Algieri is planning to leave for Macao from Las Vegas on November 12th, ten days before the big fight which will be carried live via Pay-Per-View by HBO and other sports networks around the globe.
