Feisty lady promoter Yolly Alfante has identified three of her boxers who have been enticed to fight in Thailand without the necessary clearance by the Games and Amusements Board, the governing body for boxing in the Philippines.

In a telephone conversation with Viva Sports/Manila Standard Today, Alfante identified the three boxers as Tata Polinar. Kid Orais and Pit Anacaya. The businesswoman and boxing promoter said she herself reported the illegal activities of her fighters who were suspended by the GAB.

Alfante said Anacaya contacted her and said he wanted to return and fight legally and that he had promised to reveal everything he knows about the unscrupulous individuals who recruited Filipino boxers to fight in Thailand, often against far superior opponents. She identified one of the alleged recruiters as Rey Paciones who claimed he was a former boxer and could send her fighters to Thailand even without the necessary GAB approval.

Alfante revealed that there were several other fighters in Thailand who often fight under assumed names including those of well-known Filipino fighters.

GAB chairman Eric Buhain disclosed that the ban slapped on Filipino boxers fighting in Thailand which was imposed Monday following the tragic death of 24 year old Lito Sisnorio who died after undergoing brain surgery following a fourth round knockout at the hands of former world flyweight champion Chatchai Sasakul in a terrible mismatch will not affect the three Filipino boxers involved in the April 13 fight card in Pathumthani, Thailand..

Buhain said an exception was made for the fights arranged by Lope “Jun” Sarreal since they were approved two weeks ago and the GAB had “verified the contracts and all the records of the fighters and they were legitimate and balanced fights and they had already incurred expenses in the preparation.” Boxing division chief Dr. Nasser Cruz
In the card flyweight Eric Rapada (5-4-2, 1 KO) according to boxrec.com would meet undefeated Maxsaisai Pinsinchai (10-0, 4 KO’s) in an eight round bout, undefeated Saddam Kietyongyuth (12-0, 8 KO’s) with clash with Jury Noda (5-4-1, 4 KO’s) over six rounds and Jack Asis (11-6-1, 6 KO’s) will battle undefeated Chonlatarn Piriyapinyo (18-0, 9 KO’s) for the WBC Asian Boxing Council featherweight title.

Buhain noted that despite having suspended eleven people last year “there are still unscrupulous people going around looking for Filipino boxers who become punching bags in Thailand” and he would seek the help of the NBI in rounding up the guilty parties and making sure they are prosecuted.
