Numerous reports from various boxing news sites in the last hour have reported a slam bang featherweight clash between Nonito Donaire Jr. and Nicholas Walters.

Donaire vs. Walters is intended as the co-feature of an October 18th middleweight showdown between Gennady Golovkin and Marco Antonio Rubio at the Stub Hub Center in Carson, California and the opening act on HBO that evening. The reports cited Tom Loeffler of K2 Promotions, promoter of Golovkin.

Donaire (33-2, 21 KOs) is the World Boxing Association?s (WBA) Undisputed Featherweight Champion or Super Champion, by virtue of his Technical Decision victory over former champ, Simpiwe Vetyeka last May 31st in Macao, China.

The undefeated Walters (24-0, 20 KOs) is listed as the WBA?s World Featherweight Champion or Regular Champion and defeated two-time Donaire foe, Vic Darchinyan by knockout also in the same card in Macao.

The match if it materializes, will settle the confusing WBA champion status in the 126 pound division between the two hard hitting sluggers.

Reached by Philboxing.com to comment on the news, Donaire Jr. simply said, ?Hmmm, interesting.?
