Scott.
CHICAGO -- Byron Scott has accepted terms to become the next head coach of the Los Angeles Lakers. According to ESPN, Scott's deal is for four years and $17 million with the Lakers holding the option for the final year.

Scott played 11 of his 14 years in the NBA as a Los Angeles Laker, winning three championships during the Showtime era spearheaded by Magic Johnson. Scott amassed 15,077 points and 2,279 assists in his decorated career.

"It feels fantastic. This is a dream come true. I always wanted to coach the Lakers, especially when I got to coaching. It's so unreal. I have to thank (general manager) Mitch (Kupchak), Jeannie and Jim Buss to give me this opportunity," Scott told KCBS-TV.

Scott last coached with the Cavaliers in Cleveland, where he was relieved of his duties in April 2013. He guided the New Jersey to the NBA Finals in 2002 and 2003, losing to the Los Angeles Lakers and the San Antonio Spurs respectively.

Scott was named NBA Coach of the Year in 2008. (Homer D. Sayson)
